Hiphop, Hip Hop, hip-hop

As we built, verbally and mentally, with KRS-ONE at the Harriet Tubman School in Harlem, NYC, we were reaquainted with a little known tome of knowledge called the Gospel of Hip Hop. I was first able to skim thru it briefly, one year ago at shadesradio.com's 1st Annual Hip Hop Appreciation Week Celebration via Minister Server. Though, again, it was only briefly. I mostly remember wanting to have a copy of my own to read at my leisure. However it was not available like that. It won't be out officially until 2009. So upon seeing KRS again here, we were able to get into a discussion about the book. Still, commenting now about this event takes on a whole new perspective due to our interaction with KRS since then. In basic terms, Shadesradio.com's connection with the TRUE ESSENCE of Hiphop's principles, culture and spirituality are something we share in common with KRS. Because of this, we will be working hard as media ambassadors of the Stop the Violence Movement to bring mental awareness, originality, and responsible creativity back to the forefront of the hip-hop industry. We are asking others who wish to participate in this revitalization of the Hip Hop genre to join us as the 20th anniversary of the STV Movement  is recognized. For more info on how to reaffirm the REAL principles of Hiphop, call 973.622.7752 or email us at info@shadesradio.com. Lastly, as both a fan and producer of authentic Hip Hop material, just imagine how it would feel to get a call from KRS-ONE acknowledging your efforts to preserve the culture. Well that's how we felt recently after getting a call from the Teacha, himself... On behalf of Jah Jah Shakur and the whole Shades of Hip Hop/shadesradio.com staff, Supreme Big Up! to KRS-ONE for keeping it REAL FOR REAL.

KRS-ONE the Teacha Talks About Hiphop
Recently, we caught up with KRS-ONE again, albeit in a non-performing mode. This was actually much better for the fact that we were able to kick it on a  more personal and intellectual level. The conversation was stimulating to say the least, and very respectful on some down to earth shit. The discussion ranged from BET and Souljah Boy to the contemplation of metaphysical perceptions of time. For example, these pictures are brand new to you and might seem like something from yesterday, but by the time you read this it's at least a week old. Nah mean, one day we'll all be dead but these pictures and video might still be circulating thru the ether. Like on youtube. click here to see the video clip.
